Men have breast tissues as in women and in some cases this tissue is immenser than it should be. This condition is named as "gynecomastia" in medicine. Boosting of breasts in men by both diet and exercise and also with increasing weight due to hormones is called as gynecomastia. This condition shouldn’t be confused with muscle development at breast area.
Gynecomastia may be observed in men at puberty and in increasing age. Change in breast tissue in puberty is dependent on hormones and this gets better at the end of puberty and with hormones going back to the normal level. And with advancing age, breasts boost in volume (fatty tissue and mammary gland) due to either decrease in testosterone level or increase in weight. If gynecomastia has come out due to boosting of mammary glands, the excessive parts of breasts which have boosted are removed. Also in gynecomastia arising due to boosting of fatty tissue liposuction surgery is applied.
Gynecomastia surgery may be performed under local or general anesthesia. Your type of anesthesia is determined by considering your age and size of your breasts. The surgery lasts approximately for 1-1.5 hours. After the surgery you may be discharged at the same afternoon of the surgery day or the next day. Not much pain is felt after the surgery, therefore you may carry on your daily activities as normal. You may take a bath after 2-3 days and return to your social life.

Gynecomastia Correction - in Men
Breast enlargement and sagging may also occur in men and it is called gynecomastia. There are two types of gynecomastia: The one that occurs during puberty is usually associated with mammary gland hypertrophy which can be palpated under the nipple like a button. The other type occurs in most of the men after the age of 40ties. There is usually only fat tissue but no gland in those cases. Presence of glandular tissue is detected by an ultrasonographic examination performed before the surgery. If there is glandular tissue, it has to be excised with a scalpel through a cut made just under the nipple-areola complex. Then a laser liposuction is done to remove the remaining fat and tighten the skin envelope. If there is no glandular tissue, then only laser liposuction is sufficient to obtain a good result.
