Personal factors, emerge according to the structural state and functions of the body, whereas the external factors, stem from the vital activities and the environment outside of the body.
In men the increasing androgenic hormones (testosterone) during adolescence and genetic factors are the personal factors. After the age of 18-20 these factors cause hair thinning out and then eventual loss that leaves open areas.
Another reason is; the hair loss due to the imbalance of the bodily systems caused by the under working (hypothyroid) or over working (hyperthyroid) of the thyroid hormone-releasing gland, producing the T3 and T4 thyroid hormones. Treatment of this with proper methods will ensure the recovery of the lost hair.
Another personal factor is unbalanced diet. Not consuming the foods that contain a number of trace elements (zinc, selenium, etc.) that are necessary for healthy hair, will cause hair to weaken over time and decrease in quality.
An intense stressful life can result in both whitening and hair loss.
Drugs used in the fight against cancer also cause hair loss. With the discontinuation of its use the old hair can mostly be restored.
Intensive use of cosmetics such as shampoos, jellies, creams, sprays, handmade medicines; inadequate quality products, and the use of inappropriate preparations inevitably cause hair loss.
Depressions caused by the living environments also cause hair loss.
Genetic and hereditary factors other than the presence of testosterone may be treated or prevented by being removed from the body. All these factors combined, bring about the hair loss both in men and women.
After the tests to be performed, if there is any treatable defects or deficiencies, these should be resolved first. But in many patients there is no reason. In males, commonly hair loss starts from the front to the top, while in some it is only at the top and in some only as thinning. As for women, it is presented as thinning. The amount of hair loss, the formation process and the previously applied treatments should be considered and a personal method should be chosen.
Among medicinal drugs, minoxidil-containing medicines that are developed as antihypertensives but as side effects, increasing the hair quality of the users are the most effective. Oral Finasteride and locally administered Minoxidil are drug treatment methods approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) against hair loss. You should use this medication in consultation with your doctor.
In men, 5% Minoxidil Spray (Minoxil, rogaine) and Oral Finasteride 1 mg tablet (Proscar, Propecia) are used. Only one can be used or they can be used together. 2% form of Minoxidil for women is also available. Depending on the stage of the hair loss, 5% or 2% form can be chosen. Due to the effects of finasteride it is not recommended to use in women. Both drugs may be beneficial in preventing premature-onset mild-to-moderate hair loss in areas where hair follicles are weakened and inflamed. You should absolutely use the abovementioned medicines under doctor’s control. Its usage creates hair strands by preventing duplication, thickening and loss. Drug therapies have little or no effect on complete hair loss. In complete hair loss, the hair root cells die and the hair strands do not grow again. At this stage, no drug can grow the hair again. The only effective treatment and the most certain result of complete hair loss is the transfer of one’s own hair to the hairless area.
